There were some drawings/scribblings next to the shanty. One of them said "Be Free". This is the most interesting one:

Found a shanty today.
Hopefully, you can see the "Babies-R-Us" and the "Home Depot" in the background as the industrial wasteland of West Oakland blurs into the outdoor shopping mall of Emeryville.
